Fuel Filter Fun
 

I'm changing the fuel filter on my 88 240. The line that goes into the filter from under the car(not the one coming in from the fuel pump) broke, and I cannot get the fuel line back onto that "ridged" fitting on top of the fuel filter. How can that be done? I'm assuming a heat gun would do it, but I'm NOT about to use a heat gun on an open fuel line. Thanks for any help, guys/gals.

Nevermind, I just realized the problem is that the fuel line is old and hard, and it should be soft. I'm going to have to run a new line from the fuel filter to the engine. Oh well. Wouldn't suck so bad if I had another vehicle to get me there. LOL.

OK. I went to my local Autozone and bought a 10' section of 1/4" fuel line, just in case I had to run a new line all the way to the engine bay. The only thing that worries me, is that the line I bought is alot thicker than the OEM on the car. We needed the car running ASAP tonight, so I ran the old line from the engine bay to 1' away from the filter, where I coupled the two lines. I placed a clamp at the coupler to give a little extra support, just in case. Anyone see a problem with that repair method? I haven't seen any leaks so far. And it's driving fine. Was hard to start for the first 3 or 4 test drives, but now seems perfect.
