I have a 1986 volvo dl that I bought from ebay. The previous ownersaid one day the volvo ran and thte next day it didnt. So when I brought it back to my house I looked around the car to see what was wrond and found that the fuel filter was ?missing? along with the support plate to hold it in place. I bought one from Ipd, installed it, and plugged in the fuel pump and the car will not start. The engine turns over just fine and all but no fuel delivery. I bought a plate from a junkyard and it came with a fuel pump for 16$. The fuel pump from the junkyard was pretty much brand new so I tried both to see if either one worked. The cars battery is almost dead so it has to be jump started to do trial and error. Another thing everything else works electronically in the car and out but that. Any help is appreciated. I will take pictures if it will help.

 

Several thing to check that may help.

1) Check for power at the pump

2) check the fuses and the contacts (blown fuse / corroded contacts)

3) fuel pump relay - these are notorious for going bad.

Report your findings and we'll go from there.

1. I cleaned the contacts at the fuel pump since there were some grime on them.
2. I replaced all fuses and cleaned the contacts.
3. I havent replaced that and thanks for he help.
