Gas pedal makes my car do the jerk!
My '90 740 jerks when I let go of the accelerator in the higherRPM's.When I gas it (still doing between 60 - 70mph), it jerks again and I speed up.
It's not my engine mounts, which I just replaced less than 3K miles ago. Plus, when I gas it in gear with my foot on the break, I don't feel the engine twisting. Is it a problem with my tranny? Do I need to replace the accelerator cable maybe? Please help! |
RE: Gas pedal makes my car do the jerk!
Cleaned the throttle body lately?
Maybe it might be the transmission. The lock up function might be messing up. |
RE: Gas pedal makes my car do the jerk!
Yeah, I cleaned the throttle body and replaced the gasket about 4K miles ago. I just had a new tranny put in about 2 months ago. I guess I should I have the shop check it out. I was just hoping it was somthing I could fix myself. - Thanks Tech
PS - what's the lock up function? |
RE: Gas pedal makes my car do the jerk!
It is what the torque converter does to lock the transmission into gear while driving.
There is a better explination but I can't give it. I am not an expert on transmissions. I know the lock up function can do that and is a pain sometimes. |
