How do you find/replace the brake light switch?
i have a volvo 240 1991 and am trying to replace the brake light switch because mine does not work at all.
So I pulled off the plastic and fabric under the dash and found a little black square plastic switch touching the brake pedal. this looks nothing like the switch that I got at autozone. the switch i got at autozone is cylindrical and metal. i think i found another switch further up the pedal but there is no way of figuring out if it looks like my replacement switch as it is completely hidden and buried behind tons of wiring and pieces of metal. it seems if this is the one it must be impossible to get to without completely tearing apart my whole car. what should i do? |
cant figure out how to delete this thread. figured out the brake light switch though

the OP was 2 years ago, would have been nice if they'd said just what they did.
cash419, what year/model car do you have? on a mid 80s 240, at least, its the switch that the brake pedal's arm actuates, its got a blue-red and green-red wire, and you remove the nut and it should just pop out. |
