Key does not go all the way into the drivers door lock cylinder

and I can not lock or unlock the door?

Anyone ever deal with this? Guessing I have to pull it and bring it to a lock smith?

Oh, 1988 volvo 740 T

could just be a stuck pin tumbler.... I'd squirt some liquid graphite ("Lock-Ease") into it and work the key in/out, wiggling everything while you do it. Have a paper towel or rag handy to catch the inevitable drip so it doesn't stain your paint.

Have to try that.

I'm sure I could find that stuff somewhere; I have not tired to find liquid graphite.

I tried some rust penetrate today, see if that jars something loose.

Didn't do anything going to pull it, I remember these door panels being super easy to remove. Don't remember the lock cylinder.

yeah, 7/9 door panels are easy if you know the tricks.

A) remove lock knob (unscrew)
B) remove speaker panel (slide towards front of car til it pops off)
C) remove trim around interior latch (lift up window switches first, then it comes out)
D) remove red lens on door jam (pry straight out)
E) remove three (or 4?) clips inside holes on bottom of door. easiest to remove by making sure they are level, then using a small screwdriver to pry center straight down, they pop off.

now swing bottom of door panel out and away from door, and lift off, unplugging speaker wires

to get the lock cylinder off, you have to remove any door liner plastics, remove those two large hardned phillips screws near the door latch, and remove the piece of metal sheild that was secured witht hose screws. now if you peer down in there, you can see the lock cylinder is retained by a spring clip around it, and it has a metal push-rod, which you have to unhook from the latch mechanism before pulling the spring clip.

reassembly is opposite of disassembly.

(hey, thats all from memory and its been a couple years)

I'll pull it and see what I find and post pics. super ****ing annoying with it not working!

Also the Left passenger door doesn't even open.

fixing a door that won't open will be challenging, since if its closed its impossible to get the door panel off without breaking stuff.

btw, those lower clips, they look like this...

and are pushed up onto a pin thats sticking out of the door... so you want it so the flat side is level like that picture, then insert that small screwdriver between the two fingers and lever the lower flat part straight down. if the clip is rotated to either side its much harder to get off.
