LH1 MAF for my 1990 Volvo 240 DL. NEED!

Just figured out that my 1990 volvo 240 DL has an LH1 MAF.

In need of a new one!

I'm having a hard time finding one, of course. As well as my mechanic!

Anyone know a site or where I could get one?

It'd be much appreciated.

Has anyone ever upgraded from an LH1 to a 2.2 or 2.4? What is the process? Would it be easier to just find an LH1?

Go to ebay, lots of them there...

What makes you think you got LH1 on your '90. Unless someone swapped an earlier fuel injection system into your car, it should come equipped with LH2.4 FI.

I no this won't help, but I'm parting out my 92 240, mostly body panals,

As told by my mechanic it has an LH1.

The confusing thing is when I first bought the car (a few months ago) and took it to my mechanic I was told the AMM had been replaced with an 850 AMM and did not state that it was an LH1. The mechanic also said he couldn't do anything about it because it was after market issues and didn't know how he "Somehow wired in an 850 AMM to my car". I called the guy I bought the car from and he absolutely denied having anything to do with it. Although there was an 850 in his driveway.. So I really didn't know what to do from there..
Recently I took my car to my mechanic again due to having continued hesitation stalling idling issues and ect. I asked for a tune up to see if that would help at all. They called me and asked if I knew about having an LH1 AMM. I asked about the 850 situation and they have no idea if its been replaced or not but it is indeed an LH1. And now they are able to replace it if they find the part.
So all in all I'm very confused on what really happened with my volvo.
My question is, what is necessary for me to upgrade to a 2.4? And would that be a good option or should I just leave it with an LH1?

the LH injection systems volvo used circa 1983 were LH-II. Then from about 85-88 they used LH2.2, and in 89+ the 240/740/940 mostly used LH2.4.

the Bosch 'hot wire', AMM/MAF's have a part number 0-280-212-xxx
the -xxx is -002 for LH 2.0, -007 for LH 2.2, -016 for LH2.4, these all are 6 pin.

There's also LH 3.1 used on a few 1990-1992 240's. This uses 0-280-217-001 hot film AMM with a 4 pin connector.

...so I'm guessing that you have LH 3.1.

this has pictures and info on the AMM's...
How can I tell which version of Bosch LH Fuel Injection is on my Volvo 240?

Upgrading is not really much of an option as it requires swapping of the ECU, wiring harness and perhaps injectors. Really the best thing to do is try to determine what version of the LH fuel injection your car came with. Look at the link that Pierce provided. Then check the wiring to your MAF. If indeed your wire has four pins as shown in the picture AND it doesn't look like it has been spliced into the wiring harness, then you need the LH3.1 MAF. If it has 6 pins, then you need the LH2.4 MAF.

3,1 is an upgrade over 2.4, the hot film MAF is more durable than the hot wire ones, and 3.1 at least in theory gives a little better gas mileage. there's other differences than the ECU and AMM, too... 3.1 has an actual throttle position potentiometer, while LH 2.x just has an idle and full throttle microswitch.

I unplugged the connector for the AMM and it has a 4 Pins. So it is a 3.1! Thanks guys. I'm only a little worried due to the first statement my mechanic had said about an 850 AMM wired into my car? I'm not sure if this is true or what that would really mean. The housing/Rubber around the wires or whatever you want to call it seems to have been cut open. I'll take some pictures and post them later today.
