Mahle vs. Mann

Hi,

I've heard one should use a genuine Volvo oil filter or a Mann brand filter when changing the oil and filter on 240s. They say that Volvo or Mann filters allow for quicker oil pressure on start up because of a check valve inside the filter that keeps oil in the filter when the engine's shut down. I had an A/C filter on it and it always took a couple seconds to get oil pressure. With the last oil change I installed a Mahle filter. ( I got this filter by mistake, thought I was ordering a Mann) This filter seems to give me immediate pressure like I was told the Mann would. I like that.

My question is: Is the Mahle brand filter as good as the Mann or genuine Volvo filter? I like the immediate pressure performance. I want to order a case off the web and use them on my two Plymouth Voyagers (they take the same filter as the 240) as well. I want to order the best. Should I go Mahle or Mann?

Thanks,

Mark

RE: Mahle vs. Mann

I can't really tell you about their filters but mahle makes high quality pistons. The best pistons and cylinders for VW's were always made by mahle. (I use purolator filters in the 240 because they are easy to find and high quality)

RE: Mahle vs. Mann

I can only speak about Mann filters Thats all we use. Mann is supposedly the supplier for Volvo for the filters.

P.S. I also use them on my MUSTANG they work AWESOME.
