Manifold air leak
 
I tested my intake system for air leaks by compressed air and found that there is a bolt hole that looses pressure right on the turbocharger. My question is what should go there? See picture.

So, no one so far has heard of this? Well I plugged the hole and a small hissing noise went away. That hiss was there since the turbo was replaced. I'm really starting not to trust that mechanic. It's too bad I was still in Jr High then and didn't know a thing. The car idles a bit better, but I ran another intake side compression test. I still got some big leaks. This one comes from the wrong place. The oil return line leaks some pretty major amount of air (and oil too) from the place where it drains into the block. It sounds like a sucky turbo rebuild. The seals must be pretty shot. Any suggestions or other thoughts? Should I pull the whole thing and rebuild it right? The turbo operates really well besides the oil and air leaks.

HOw is the oil drain seal on the turbo?

umm you might want to send the turbo to someone who knows what they are doing.

BTW, my garrett turbo on the 244T has that same threaded hole. I dont remember if it leaks or not.

you can put a barb in that hole to run the wastegate on your turbo. If you don't use that hole and use another source you plug it with a bolt.

Okay, but now I've already plugged it up. Now air leaks from the oil drain tube where it connects to the block. A lot of oil leaks from there too. Rebuilding a turbo looks way simple, I'm just afraid of complications of getting the bolts loose and of course cost and where to get parts.

Then you should pull the drain tube and replace that washer at the bottom, and you should clean out your flame trap. Rebuilding a turbo is easy, its the balancing it when your done so that it doesn't fail in 500 miles thats hard.

I hear a leak from the IAC circuit, particularly from the place where the tube to the intake manifold joins the IAC unit. I've checked local stores and the internet for that piece of tubing. Right now I cut the ends off and clamped another hose on it. Where can I find one of these tubes? Also, the gasket the the idle adjustment screw assembly on the bottom of the intake manifold it pretty shot, where can I find a new one of those?

Junkyard for the intake screw. If there is another turbo car in to lot you could get the tubing from there. You can by SKeet or Skat tubing online that will solve your problem with that to, or silicone tubing, google it, You'll find it.

New hoses and a good gasket = no difference.
