Master cylinder push rod
Hi,
On a '89 240 I need to get the master cylinder push rod out as the holes have worn into an oval. Can the rod be removed from the master cylinder while fitted to the car? or has the whole thing got to be removed? Thanks, Dan |
I would just disconnect the lines to be safe then bleed the brakes after. Don't fight it and make it harder on yourself.

I've got a issue with removing it. The lines is corroded to the union so it's twisting the pipe. So I carn't get it off without replacing the complete pipe.. Something I'm not so keen on having to do
I was going to weld up the hole and re drill it. But I can't do it fitted... Is there any other option? Thanks, Dan |
you've soaked this union in a decent penetrating oil like Kroil ?

I took a peek at mine and I think...(think) that it can be done with out removing the lines. Unlike my other cars the 240 has a little more room to mess with. If its not a an emergency to fix this , you may want to try pierces suggestion and lube it up, do that several times a day for a few days and your situation may change.

Hi guys,
I'm using Plus gas, similar to kroil i'm gussing. It's not an emergency so I can let it soak for a while. I'll see how that goes, just patience I think with this one. Thanks again, Dan |
