Muffler Fix – Will This Work?
Yes, eventually I will need a new muffler, but …
The exhaust pipe leading to the rear muffler has come loose from the muffler. I can see where the weld of the piece of pipe that extends into the muffler side gave way. However, the muffler itself is in good shape, so rather than replace it:
• Can this be welding back together? I had this done where the header pipe connects to the catalytic converter, and it has lasted over 2 years now.
• Or alternatively, I found in this forum a way to fix an exhaust pipe crack – “Get the moldable epoxy putty and plug it. Clean the area up with a wire brush and some sand paper and then mix that stuff up and put it on. It looks like you are putting chewing gum in it or something but it will last for a LONG time. It hardens so hard it can be drilled and tapped.” Might this work?
