Need help finding bushing for 1992 volvo 240 Alternator Mounting Bracket

Hi all,

There is a mounting bracket or "arm" that comes off of the alternator and attaches to the block. The bolt originally broke off into the block but I just got it out with an extractor. Now after trying to put the new bolt in I noticed that it was still flimsy. Then I realized that I need some bushings to go in there. The only ones I am finding online are the actual mounting bushings that mount the alternator. I need to find the bushings that go inside this mounting "arm" that connects to the block. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

:D

alt bushing

1 Attachment(s)
junk yard part........assuming your alternator mounts by the exhaust side...

tried: fcpeuro.com or ipdusa.com? I am sure they have it..

MacGyver way of fixing your situation:

You will need:
Hockey puck or thick rubber...
hole saw bit and drill to drill out the rubber bushing out of your material

once a rubber bushing has been made to go inside the metal bracket hole...match the size and thickness...
drill a hole the size of your bolt that goes into the block right in the center of the rubber material to
push the bolt through.
use two washer on both sides of the rubber bushing....and for size of washer just take a look at this picture...

I have also seen a tread on here about home making a poly mount. Maybe you can look it up and make one.

I just picked an alternator for my 1993 240 at a pick n pull last week, I can probably get you the entire bracket, it should still be there, have to go up and get a power steering pressure hose off it anyway.

Let me know if you want me to get it.

Thanks all. I was low on time today but there was a 240 there that I practically took apart myself because no one has 240's around here. I remember pulling the bushing off of that car but just threw it somewhere because i thought I didn't need it. Well I went this morning in hopes of it still being there and sure enough it was laying there on the gravel. It was a little busted up but they let me take it for free and it worked just fine. The alternator is nice and tight now. Well it still has a hair of movement but it will do for now. Thanks!!! :D
