Default Need seat foam 89 240

I have an 1989 240 wagon with bad drivers bottom seat foam. I have checked the IPD web site and it is not available. Also the blue vinyl is ripped. Does anyone have any idea.

Thanks Don

Hi Don, IPD dropped the seat foam a year or so back. You might try calling them as they occasionally have the odd bit around not listed. Alternately, consider scavenging the passenger seat bottom from a jy. Passenger seats get much less wear and the seat bottoms are interchangeable on the 240 from side to side.

There was someone over on the brickboard that created new seat foam bottoms for the 240. I believe he was selling them on ebay. You could do a search over there. I don't recall the price.

Most certainly the junkyard will be the cheaper way to go.

Default Brickboard seat foam

I remember that too. It's in the classifieds. If I remember right he was asking $150 just for the bottom! IPD offered 'em for $50 and I thought that was high! I actually have two in my stash but plan on using them in the GT. I still say go to the JY and get one or two passenger side bottoms. Either that or do what I so...buy one wrecked for $150-200 off Craigs List, get all the parts you think you'll need and then sell the rest and get your $200 back.

Default E bay seat foam - $175 Oh S****

I found the seat foam on E Bay. $175.00 plus shipping is steep for the bottom seat foam only (plus shipping).

Unfortunately, that seems to be the price some folks think they will bring. My best advice is to go used. Look for as new a donor as possible. That's about all you can do...

Default Lower seat foam

Hi folks, I'm a little late checking in here. Yes, I have brand new (not used) seat foam available for the 240 lower cushions. They are $175. iPD's last price was over 200, but they have had no stock for many months now. This was just new old stock Volvo foam. One needs to keep in mind that even urethane has a lifespan. I would suggest that much of the NOS foam was ten years old or older. With that no longer available, I decided it was time to upgrade and update the foam.

Like many of you, for years I scrounged "good" passenger side foam from the yards. The problem with this is that these cushions are 20 years old too. Often they look wonderful when pulled, but soon after being put into regular, daily use as a driver's cushion, they begin to disintegrate also.

Foam is in stock and ready to ship!
