Default no noise from fuel pump

got in the car today and it wouldnt start. read the manual and traced it down to the fuel pump relay, i think. i jumped the 5 and 7 fuses and the pump came on. i then jumped at the fuel pump relay and no pump. i took the relay apart to see if it would click and it wouldnt. it would if you did it manually and would disconnect after the ignition was off. im lost as to where to go from here.

It might work wiring it hot but I don't reccomend it.
I will bet the fuel pump relay is bad.If you still have it open look at the curcuit board and look for loose connections. They come loose then burn up the relay.

boy do i feel like an idiot. i was testing the system relay. when i jumped the fp relay the pump came on. so i guess that means the relay is bad. car still wont start hot wired though. how many cranks should it take for it to start after the pumps been off. do i need that relay for the car to start or is it something else.

I think that relay also controls the injectors aswell.I would say to get your hand on a relay.
Even if you go to a junk yard for now till you get a new one.

looking at a schematic for an 82 the fp relay has a wire going to the fuel pump, injectors, battery, 2 to fuse box, system relay, and ecu. when you put in the jumper wire your connecting 30 & 87. (30 battery, system relay), (87 fuel pump, injectors, tank pump). im getting spark when jumping but it wont start. im sure the relays bad i just wish i was 100% sure. could it be the system relay.
