Ive adjusted and re adjusted my KD cable by the book and set to what my other 240 is at both by measurement and feel and still nothing

also flushed the fluid, no go either...a friend of mine told me that he had a very similar situation with a Toyota truck, his mechanic replaced his MAF sensor none the less! fixed his issue. I have not swapped the MAF's on both my 240's yet to test this but it sounds so far fetched, it can't possibly work right? How could they possibly be related? idk

Thinking about dropping my pan and replacing the filter and whatnot, also throwing around the idea of pulling the solenoids, but at that point die rather sell the car or replace the whole transmission.

well i had somewhat of the same dilemma. the last ditch effort is to loosen the solenoid and start the engine for a few seconds which blows out any blockage from the passages. then the solenoid (in your case bypass) should work.
it is a bit of a messy job though...

Is the cable binding at all? When you pull on it there should be some resistance but when you let go it should retract smoothly all at once. If it is binding up, it may cause late shifts and early downshifts.

If that isn't the case, it may be time to drop the tranny and either put in a substitute or open it up and dig in.

Nah no binding at all, but some 3 in 1 oil anyway since I had it off

Thinking its time to pull the pan and change the filter, I think it must be clogged, if that won't work I think I am going to disable 4th entirely by taking that bypass plate and flipping it over to block both holes.

What do you guys think?
I have decided that I will sell the car as is before I pull the transmission.

alright, ill see if I can tonight. If thats it I am going to kick myself because I have seen that post of yours for a while now and avoided it because of the mess.

is the pressure high or will it just seep out? also how long did you run the engine for or did you simply crank it over?

not super high pressure and you only have to run the engine for a few seconds...fluid will come out though - and hopefully the blockage will clear too. good luck.

No fix, fluid came out steady....same issue persists

the last thing I can think of is my throttle position sensor? otherwise it has to be internal to the transmission but Ive never seen an issue like this for a mechanical issue.....it really feels like electrical

If it feels electrical, how is the wiring running to the solenoid? I've had to repair this wire on ALL of my 240s. I don't know if it is because it is close to the exhaust but the insulation tends to flake off.

hmm not sure about the TPS, but i doubt it. as i understand it the trans shifts due to pressure, not anything else. since you bypassed the electrical 'switch' on the solenoid it can't be that anymore.
only thing could be is a blockage. did you try running seafoam through it?

Thats what I was initially thinking
it wouldn't be on the OS solenoid side because if that was the case it would never shift into 4th

so it must be on the governor side that fights against the downshift valve doohickey
therefore it must be internal and pretty bad (basically where the transmission created the hydraulic pressure)
which would indicate a replacement I think

sorry then i'm officially out of ideas...unless your bypass plate is somehow not working right....?? or maybe time to look for used trans.

thanks for keeping in there

all good ideas... I just took off the solenoid again, sealed it up with JB weld and glued it back on with the gasket maker. Car driving smooth as glass again, although its simply a 3 speed transmission now.

The hunt for a replacement begins
unless someone wants a super clean 240 lol

2700 is a huge price with no o/d. suppose the new owner knows this?
