Opinions on Zerex G48 For 240?

Hoping this isn't a redundant question on this forum, but have any 240 owners used Zerex g48? I've seen opinions on this forum and others ranging from 'you MUST use Volvo type C' to 'dump anything green in it.'

I've seen a lot of support for Zerex G-05, so that's what I used last time I changed out my coolant, but today I saw Zerex G48 at the parts store and noticed that it's also HOAT, low silicate, and phosphate free AND the back label indicates that it's Volvo approved for vehicles '91 and newer. Also, it's blue like Volvo Type C. Zerex G-05 label doesn't specifically mention Volvo at all.

OK. Kind of a nit picky question, I know. Just curious.

Incidentally, I drive a 1991 245 automatic.

G48 is a newer spec than our cars :)

G05 is just fine in them. G48 is fine too, but I believe its more expensive. G48 was introduced to better handle the sort of water hardness in europe, and also last longer between changes.

one nice thing about G48, its easier to see the fluid level in your overflow tank with the blue G48 vs the gold G05.

Thanks pierce!

Is there an advantage to using the HOAT coolants over other coolants in terms of longevity for the engine?

I have an '85 240 that I'm about to replace the radiator in and will flush the coolant system. Is the HOAT the best?

G05 is what Volvo used when these cars were new.
