RE: Power ant. and the cold weather
The only thing I can suggest is spray it with some WD-40.

ORIGINAL: tech The only thing I can suggest is spray it with some WD-40. Hey Colgate, You must be lovin' the weather now, we got down to 5 above zero out in the NYC 'burbs last night.;) Tech's idea of WD 40 will free it up some, but any lubricant that has a residue will attract dust and dirt and make the antenna sluggish again eventually. I've had good luck with lock lubricant (graphite lube), also made for speedometer cables (remember those?). The carrier oil is very thin but it evaporates, leaving a graphite coating that resists moisture. Coat your keys and work some of the lock lube into the door locks before tomorrow's ice storm! |

the power antenna has a tendens to jam, the electric motor has to oppenions,
1 : get burned and not usable. 2: bad cable connectors, if you open the plastic thats suited around the motor, you can se that the cables does not like the cold. mine started to die when the antenna was upp, in -24 degrees. ****! i changed the motor, and it get stuck AGAIN!!! |
RE: Power ant. and the cold weather
erik... so much ice, and you still listen to the radio...?!?
i did the easy thing and got the antenna holes welded shut. i don't really listen to the radio much, unless i'm at work. but i've been thinking about getting a window mounted antenna. |
