Power Window Electrical Problem?
Hi everyone,
I have a 1987 volvo 240 and I recently installed door panels from a 1992 Volvo 240. After installing the door panels, I decided to put the 1992 volvo window switch relays on my windows instead of my existing 1987 window switches. But I noticed after installing the 1992 switches on my rear doors that I busted my fuse that controls my power windows. So I then decided to put my old switches back in. No Luck, my fuse keeps busting for some reason when the car is running, so now I'm sure I how a short in my power windows but how would I go about looking for it? Its frustrating b/c I didn't touch any of my window wires in the process of putting my door panels back except when i plugged my windo relays back in. Anyone's help will be greatly appreciated.... |
RE: Power Window Electrical Problem?
Look for a broken wire in the door jamb. It sounds like a wire is shorting out (going to ground) and causing the fuse to blow. A wire could also be caught up in the window mechinism, behind the door panel(s). You might have to remove each switch one at a time and test. You might also test the relay or remove it and see if the fuse blows.

You also might have pinched a wire installing the door panel.
