Default Quite A Deal On Shocks And Struts

Just thought I would pass this along. Rockauto.com has some great deals on Monroe shocks until the end of May. Monroe's quality has improved quite a bit and these are as good as my OEM Sachs, as far as ride and handling. I got a complete set of front struts and rear shocks for my '93 940 for $110.00(including shipping). And they're offering a $75.00 prepaid Visa card rebate along with it. So my net cost was $35.00 for a complete set of front and rear gas shocks with a lifetime warranty. And they're made in the USA, unlike Bilstein and Sachs which are made in Mexico, and have only a 2 year warranty.

Yeah, I saw this deal on Rockauto yesterday and bought a set of struts and shocks for $90. Not including shipping, that means a net cost of $15 for all new shocks/struts.

Nice, I ended up getting a set as well. The '91 could definitely use new suspension. Thanks!

It's a shame the front and rear shocks I want have to be shipped from two different places thus doubling the shipping cost. Also does Rockauto's receipt meet all the stringent requirements of the rebate offer?

The rebate offer is Monroe's not Rockauto, so you should be able to buy them locally and still get it. Just figure which is cheaper - a higher local price and no shipping or rockauto with a lower price plus shipping? Once you get it you print the rebate form and fill it out, include a copy of your paid invoice(Rockauto's is fine) and cut out the sku bar codes on the boxes and send all that to Monroe. Not that complicated.

SO my struts/shocks have arrived already but this is the first time I have ordered brand new suspension so I figured I would show some photos. The reason for that is that there seems to be some rust on one of my struts. Is this normal? Am I being too nit picky? Check it out.

If I was worried about it I'd just put a layer of spray paint on there. I didn't really examine mine closely, but I wasn't that worried when this is what was in my car:

It's up to you. I ordered some new Moog rear springs that had some scuffs on them. It was cosmetic and didn't affect their function. If you want to return them I'm sure they'll pay the shipping if you send them those pics. The main thing I'd be concerned about would be if they compress and rebound at the same rate. Place them side by side and push down on both at the same time with equal pressure and watch the rebound. If they do it at the same speed they're ok. A little Rustoleum will clean them up and cancel that rust. Or, if you've got the time set up a return.
