Rear Proportioning Valve for a 1990 240V
Hello,
I am currently trying to get my 1990 240 V on the road and I am having a hard time finding a rear proportioning valve. My mechanic had to put some new brake lines in and when he tried to hook them up to the valve it just kind of fell apart! I have found one through a dealer but they want 450$ for one and I need two! Not happening!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know if the 240 LE parts would work? Thanks Dave |
Well, you could just get proportioning valves off of something else that has the same size threads. I think that sounds like a viable option.

Can you use the junction block that normally goes in the front, if you plug the unused holes? If I read this Volvo 240 Big Brakes correctly, you can, but I haven't tried it. Note that he refers to the proportioning valves, or proportioning blocks, as "rear brake reduction valves", but I'm pretty sure he's talking about the same thing.
By the way, I'm having the same problem as the original poster. |
Part no. for rear 240 hydraulic proportioning valve (aka 'manifold')
Don't know if you're still interested in the exact Volvo factory part number, but here it is: 1359554
Works for the final 240 series (1988 - 1993), both wagons (estates in the UK) and sedans. The part is indeed hard to source, but can be found at MySwedishParts.com (https://www.myswedishparts.com/oem-p...nifold-1359554) Also works for 960s, 850s, etc. but look up on the 'Net to determine with certainty. |
what is a 240 'V' ?
LE, GL, DL, etc are just trim packages. |
