Regular aftermarket spark plug tip too big for Volvo 9509 spark wires
Everytime I go into advance auto or a similar store all of their spark plugs for the 240s have huge tips on the end of them that never fit into the older 9509 spark plug wires. My 9509 wires are in great shape and I refuse to buy another set of wires. They are on my 92 240 NA wagon.
Is there any way of knowing the difference from the smaller tip to larger tip spark plugs? Is there a size reference. It seems most OEM volvo plugs are the only ones that fit. Any aftermarket seem to be too large. Any thoughts? Thanks!!! |
classic plugs had a silver sort of double-spindle shaped tip that unscrews and under it is the skinnier screw tip that some spark plug wires fit. sadly I've seen a lot of plugs recently where that fatter tip doesn't come off.
IMHO, best wires for these cars are the bougicord sets that are exactly like the OEM wires. |
