Removing 240 Window shades

1993 240. Need to figure out how to remove the window rain guards without killing the black tape. I'm guessing they are glued on.

The adhesive tape used on o.e. Volvo window shades is a one use product. It will never adhere sufficiently a second time. The simplest way to remove them is to use a heat gun and dental floss. Warm them up and simply work the floss under and through. If you have no use for them, do not throw them away...a complete set of 4 in good condition is worth at least $50...IF they are genuine Volvo.

I'll take them off your hands, handsomely.

They're getting scarce. People either love 'em or hate 'em. Generally, when folks removed them they were a bit heavy handed and one or more get broken/cracked/destroyed. I have a set of NOS Volvo o.e. for my GT...whenever I finally get to that point!

Just got out of school for the summer and am revisiting this. You guys don think the window shades ruin the lines of the car? They are not volvo brand. My biggest gripe is that when I am driving, I like to check out buildings and the shades cut off a lot of the view. I'm mostly worried about damaging the black tape on the car.

Well, they are worthless here in Texas as it is too darn hot except for 3 days a year to run w/ windows down. Further north, they are great on a cool day to add fresh air, especially on a rainy day. I'd keep 'em.

They're okay. If they really bother you, take them off, because the 240 window design and rain gutters allow me to crack the window open an inch or more and not get wet.
