Stock '91 240 cassette deck jerry-rig
So I got tired of the radio not working (120 mile daily commute will do that); it was working intermittently, and if I tapped on the digital display the sound would cut in and out.
Took it out of the dash and found that if I squeezed it between my hands, with one on top and one on the bottom of the stereo, it stopped cutting out...so I made a big c-shaped spring with a marshmallow roaster that we never seem to remember to bring camping - now there's constant pressure on the stereo casing and it's working just fine. Anyone else run into this before? I should have taken pictures, sorry. |
Just take it out and put in a new one. Not hard to do. Even a cheap one if u dont have the cash.

I have an Alpine deck to install, but I need a dash kit (think I'm going to make one out of 1/4" plywood, actually; if I do, I'll post pics) and am waiting for an FM modulator to show up so I can wire my mp3 device in.
Best part was that once I finally got the radio to stay on, what I heard was "...so thanks for your donation. Michigan Radio donations are appreciated, call 888, 258, 9866. Only two days to go on our pledge drive..." This car hates me. |
