Switching out CR-718 Radio in 940 SDN
 

My son's CR-718 radio is totally hosed and I bought him replacement Sony Receiver and speakers (x8) for his '94 940. I checked on the net and couldn't find any good info on what I need to do. I tried pulling the radio using the two side slots and the beast would not budge. Does this radio use an amplifier and if so where is it? I looked under the driver's side of the dash and didn't see anything that resembled an amp. Do I need to get an aftermarket amp for the system? I have changed out radios in older cars, but this one has got me puzzled and a little bit scared (read stories about headlights not working if you offend the wrong wire...or Swedish Norse God)......Thanks in advance for any help.....Bill G
