you referring to the angle of the differential input shaft? it should be close to exactly parallel to the transmission output shaft when the suspension is loaded normally, or maybe slightly compensated for the amount of rear end squat under heavy accelleration (eg, so that its parallel when you're accelerating). the 740 thrust bars do a pretty good job of keeping it square.

its pretty much locked in place by the thrust rods... if the bushings on those are shot, then there's slop, which can lead to driveline vibrations.
those are bushings 32, 33, 35, 36 on thrust rods 31, 34.... I suppose its also possible for the braces 18,19 to be sloppy if the isolation bushings 21 (2x), 24 are shot but I've not seen one that far gone, I suspect if they were badly worn, you'd be getting a lot of clunks in the chassis when you go on/off throttle.
