Turbo Volvo 240 + best Ecu upgrade

Hello ladies & gentlemen! I’d like to welcome myself to the forum by starting a thread I didn’t want to dig for and find.

I have and am currently daily-ing a 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon- that is slower than my grandmothers old Hyundai pony.
i am slowly piecing together a turbo kit for it, using a CX racing ( I know, Chinese) 54/54 turbo.
basically everything on the charge side I have, moving on to ECU’s and tuning- I’m aware these cars are MAF and not MAP technology, and the maf won’t be able to read positive pressures.
In this case, does anyone have experience whilst boosting a stock ecu 240? Any input would be appreciated.
If that is in fact a no bueno, can I swap over an earlier 740/760 turbo ecu that will read positive pressures?

Thanks for any help or input!

MAF measures air flow mass regardless of pressure. turbo LH2.4 cars (1990+) use the exact same MAF as non-turbos. (ditto LH2.2 cars used the same MAF whether turbo or not)

the non-turbo ECU will have the wrong map for a turbo configuration, it simply won't go high enough. turbo B230FT engines have 1) lowered compression ratios via a thicker head gasket to prevent knocking, 2) higher flow rate fuel pump, 3) larger injectors. The turbo cars also have the beefier AW71 transmission vs the AW70 used on the non-turbo cars (same gear ratios, just stronger torque converter and bearings and stuff).

you'll find a lot more hotrodding expertise over on the turbobricks.com forum.
