Volvo 240 catches fire! need help?
I was hoping that would get some attention.
My Volvo 240 positive battery lead earthed itself against the inside of the fender near the steering fluid reservoir, needless to say there was a small fire, and lots of wiring got toasted.
I installed a second hand wiring loom of all the wires affected, and the electrics all came back on, all seemed to go well.......but,
There is no spark at the plugs, no fuel pump activation. I tested the fuel pump, it works, there is no power between fuses 4 and 6.
Has a small electrical part in the dizzy being fried? What other electrical parts could have been fried?
need help!
cheers, Gareth

I would guess that you missed something when you reconnected. Shorting the car to ground won't affect any of the other electronics like that. There is a chance that the engine speed pickup died at the same time, but it's as unlikely as it would seem to happen at the same time.
Does the dash light up? Do the head lights turn on? Are there any other electrical systems not working? I was thinking that maybe the main positive junction did not get connected, but if every thing else works, then I would not think that's the case.
