Volvo 240DL in tank fuel pump conversion

Hi, my name is Victor and ive recently aquired myself quite a 240 project :)

My question is, has any of you convertet a b230a with no in tank fuel tank pump, and then put a new fuel sending unit in the tank with the in tank fuel pump? Im searching on how i need to wire it, and just how do i do?

Its a b230a carb motor. The reason why i wonna do it first of all is because i can only fin very expensive ones 250-300 eur and the unit with a fuel pump i can find for 80-100 eur.

Thanks alot, looking forward to your insight :)'

This is the one i have

Is it your intention to use the fuel pump on the later version of the sending unit? The reason I ask is the biggest difference between the early version (no pump) and the later (with pump) is that the pickup tube is longer for the early version. If you want to use the later version without a pump you will have to modify it to extend the pickup tube so it reaches the bottom of the tank.

Hi, my intention is to use it with a fuel pump, and now im getting confused if my car will work with an in tank fuel pump, do you know that?

I'm not familiar with the earlier versions of the 240 - I'm assuming it's an early one as I believe the later ones all had an in-tank pump. What year of car do you have? Does it have a carb or fuel injection? If it is fuel injected, is it LH or K-Jet? Does it currently have an external electric fuel pump or is it a mechanical (engine driven) fuel pump.
