Volvo 740 wagon brake light/bulb sensor replacement
Hello all,
I have a 1991 Volvo 745 and the brake lights are an issue.
I originally replaced fuses and the bulbs, to no avail. I checked the rear wiring with a multimeter, and there was no current when the brake light was depressed.
I then looked under the steering column. I wasnt sure what it was supposed to look like, but there looked like there were some loose wires and a missing brake light sensor at the pedal? I am not sure what I am supposed to be lookoing for down there.
I called a local parts store and they gave me a red bulb relay to replace, since they thought that might be the problem. I replaced it, and now my left brake light is on all the time (even when the brakes are not depressed) and the right is absent. Has anyone had this problem?
(Side issue. I broke a little piece of plastic while attempting to remove the ciggarette lighter. Attached is a photo. Is it important??)
