Warning Light.. but No faults
Hi.. My 1990 240 just got a new alternator, Everything went well and all voltage tests prove the alternator is working efficiently, and the battery is proven good. Usual display of lights accompanying a bad alternator were evident prior to placement of the new one, numerous lights increasing brightness until alternator died totally. Now a dim warning light is evident but it is very dim. I tested the new alternator; performance its good, cleaned every ground connection. Checked connection to oil sending unit as well, its good too. Diagnostic code check: all passed. Any ideas. The car runs great, absolutely purrs, just that dim light has me concerned about taking a long road trip.

The Alternator light is ON? There is NO MAIN warning light! Check Engine Light?

Didn't mean to hit a nerve.. as I had stated on this 1990 240 DL its the lamp between the lamp out and park brake light. I found No reference to this lamp being alternator light anywhere. Thanks anyways.

What color is the light red or yellow? What does the light say or what diagram does it show?
|
OK I had to google the manual for the 1990 240 and according to the manual the light between the parking brake reminder light (red) and the bulb failure warning light (yellow) is the brake failure warning light (red). As stated it is RED AND CLEARLY READS BRAKE FAILURE. Is that what your light says.

Made The Trip With No Trouble
Thanks for your help, no more dim light, and I did nothing to correct it.
