water drains 1987 245

Is there a water drain for the air intake at the base of the windshield. Mine had 2'' of leaf and grass debris and I have blown/vacuumed it out but still find water on the floor after a rain.
The windshield rubber is poor and due to be replaced with the windshield this week.
Is the 92 and later windshield with a glue in gasket a good or bad idea?
Is there a list for the various drains the car has?
We deal with Federated. Their parts across the board have given us good service, and we don't do enough volume to break into a better NAPA tier. An aside, the Cardone reman front calipers come back from China with bolts that have no marking. The rears did.
The master cylinders are from Taiwan.
It was the only stuff locally available. Napa,Az and Advance said no, or NLA
It's to be the dog transporting car. It was sitting dead and undriven for a decade at least so the calipers would always be suspect unless redone.

the 92 windshield is a VERY good idea. also have your window shop *completely* clean out the mounting channel, and if there's any rust take a wire brush to it and paint a reducing paint like POR over it, paying special attention to the lower corners. a good shop should charge a couple $100 extra for doing this.

IIRC, the 240 windshield vent tray drains on the outside corners... I use a bicycle brake cable and run it down the drain lines to poke out any debris buildups, and flush them out with a garden hose

Thank you.
Three glass shops that I have used in the past have folded. They dated back to the 50's. It's all puke and run installations here. I guess I will cut it out and do the prep myself. I did a bunch of the old rope in gasket units when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
We had an installer come out and bring a windshield with a split gasket. !Check the material before the install.! Another not show. Caveat emperator.

luck on windshield install

Got a tech to come out with 18 years experience. Great job, used Maryland Auto Glass in Laurel Md.
The 92 and later windshield is a direct fit for my 87, but the gasket that comes with it is a bit smaller.
He cleaned up the old gasket and the install was good.
Was there a way to save the chrome or aluminum molding and reuse it?

with the new windshield, you don't use the old molding at all, the new molding thats part of the windshield sits flush rather than sticking out, so it actually makes the car a little quieter at freeway speeds
