Wheel smells of Burning rubber
Hi my names Beth, i have a volvo 940 se. we have a problem with the front driverside wheel. it started to pull to right when we were driving and then there was a smell of burning coming from the front wheel. Can anyone help with what this is and how serious it is. I am due to go on long journey and dont want to risk making this worse. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum. It could be one of two things. Either the wheel bearing is going or, more likely, the brake is not disengaging completely when you remove your foot from the pedal. I would not drive the car much in this condition, it will only make the problem worse.

You can jack the car up and try turning the wheel by hand to see if it turns. If it doesn't turn you can bet the brake is engaged. If it does turn but not smoothly, it may be the bearings.

What is the problem with the "driver's side wheel"? If you have a pull to the right, the problem is likely on the right (passenger) side... Then, the "rubber" smell. Is it rubber or brake lining? Someone should jack up the car and look at the brakes, spin the wheels, etc. Hard to give a precise diagnosis...
