Is this a functional spoiler or just one for looks? Does is have a gap between the wing and the middle section on the hatch to allow airflow under and over it?

afaik, the 7/9 wagon spoiler might at best keep the back window a little cleaner, but will do little else other than look dorky.

I'm looking for functionality. Here's what I learned about spoilers:

Most are for looks and actually increase drag. A real spoiler spoils the the air flow over the back of a flat backed vehicle. It diverts some air under it to fill in the partial vacuum formed behind a flat backed car at speed. The only gains would be above 55. Here in Utah the speed limit was just raised for most of the state to 80. If I can get a good spoiler, you could see a little increase in gas mileage. That would be cool and also fun to learn. One that does not divert any under the spoiler actually increases the partial vacuum and makes it worse.

I didn't think that a real spoiler was made for the 945/745, but this one looked a little different than the ones I saw before. So that's my thinking. A cleaner back window would be nice.

i had our 960 wagon up to about 120 mph once and didn't feel any hint that the back end was getting light, the car felt rock solid. i've not yet had the opportunity to try that with my 740T

With a wagon or a flat back it won't cause a low pressure zone over the trunk because it doesn't exist. The low pressure zone is in the back. A wing rather than a spoiler solves that. That actually generates down force. If you look at the overall shape of a sedan it's got the wing shape going on. It's flat on the bottom and bumps out on the top. The low pressure zone over the trunk lifts it. On a wagon, that low pressure forms behind the car and literally pulls the car into it. Most people car wings spoilers and most spoilers don't spoil.

That's a wing actually. But there is a lot of truth still there. The outrageous ones that they use on race cars are the ones that get the job done.
