'95 960 will not restart after running for a few minutes.
A little background... two years ago my timing belt in my 95 960 wagon detonated and bent all 24 valves. I eventually found a great running 960 engine from a 96 model and had it installed. It starts cold and runs great - till I shut it off and try to restart it. It still has some old gas in it and it smells like it is flooding when I try to restart it. If I leave it set for an hour or so it will start right up and run fine - until I shut it off again.
I know little to nothing about fuel injection but suspect a fuel pressure problem. Has anybody else had experience with this and what did you do to fix it?
Here's what might be happening: The injectors dribble on these cars after shutdown when they get older.
Just check for a raw fuel smell inside the intake boot after things have been shut down for a bit. If it reeks, one or more of the injectors might need to be replaced...
