Default GAUGES

Today my gas and temperature gauge went to the max. I replaced the fuse, but still showing as the max. I checked the connection at the fuse panel and everything seems fine. How much work is involved in seeing the connections behind the instrument panel. Does the whole dash have to come apart? Do I have to remove the centre panel? Maybe I am missing something. Thanks for the advice.

Im not 100% sure about the 262.I know on the 240 you remove the ***** from the headlight switches and dimmer switch and the panel will come off. Then you can remove the 2 screw on the one side. The other 2 are under the cover on the other side.
