Intermittent speed sensor test?

Does anyone have a proven way to test this circuit on a 1996 960 wagon. Mine throws a PO500 code every couple of days.Thespeedo dies for a few seconds and then starts working agian. I hate to just start throwing moneyat a it.I suspect it could be a bad connection, but I can't figure out how to test this circuit while the car is sitting still, other than jacking it up and letting it run while I crawl under it.I guessI'm hoping apro might tell me how they would attackthis problem. Thanks RED7218

RE: Intermittent speed sensor test?

Have you checked the wires at the Diff. cover?
You could jack it up and Ohm the sensor and spin the tires.

OK, I know it sounded like a dumb question. The 3 inchesof wiring I cansee looked fine. The manual statesthat you have to drop out thethird member to gain access to the sensor. 300-600 ohms. Ijust can't get to it.Does anyone know where theharness is routed or aplace to gain access to it withoutdropping the axle?A smart Viking would have put anaccess panelin the floor pan. Where's my saws-all

Try to get the plug unplugged. The rubber around the terminal is known to fall apart allowing corrosion get to the terminals.

You can get to the sensor I do it all the time.
