Default Problems with my 1989 760 Turbo

My Volvo has a couple minor issues that bug me and I don't know where to start.

1) The right front blinker doesn't flash. I changed the bulb, and this was not the problem. The parking lights work, just no blinker. Could this be a problem with my relay? If so where is the relay located.

2)The doors wont lock, or unlock from the outside. I stick the key in either of the two locks and it won't turn. This is a new problem, as it used to lock fine. Another problem with a relay?! Please help. My stereo was already stolen!

3)The cruise control doesn't work. This one isn't as much of a concern, just more of an inconvenience. Any ideas?

This is a great car I bought in February for only $400. It has 177,000 miles and I'm hoping to take her much higher than that. Should I get belts and hoses replaced? Transmission has a little clunk going into reverse... do I need fluid? As you can see I've never worked with cars, I'm trying to baby her because I think I've fallen in love!!! Thanks everyone.

I have had each of those problems. As far as the blinker, take the front one out of the lens and just adjust the bulb. Mine just wouldn't sit in the socket right and the parking light would work but the blinker would not.

My key also won't turn in the door. I'm not sure what to do. I think it may just be locked up because when the problem started I could spray some lubricant inside and it would work for a few times. Now it won't turn for anything.

As far as the cruise. I'm not sure about on the turbo model, but on my V6 there is a little motor mounted on the driver side wheel well under the hood. On the bottom of that motor is a vacuum line that has T fitting that connects other hoses. Check to see that this is still in tact.

1. The socket is probably bad, contacts(corroded or bent). Clean the contacts with some sand paper or file the rust away and/or bend the contacts so they make contact with the bulb.

2.Does your key work the passenger door, or the trunk? If so, get a NEW key made, when the keys get worn out they do that. You have those HIGH SECURITY keys like the 940SE and the 960's and they are softer, wear out faster. Go to the Volvo dealer and order them by the VIN, should be around $20, otherwise they are very hard to make by independent locksmiths and will cost a LOT more.

3. The cruise, JP's answer gets my vote-probably that vacuum hose at the CC is off, or try to clean the switch if it hasn't worked in a long time. I have seen them gunk up...

Ok. i have the same car and i experianced the same problem. i went through everything and i could find out the issue. well on day i was playing around with the key ignition and i found its was messed up a little bit. After you start the car try playing around with the key in the ignition, like pulling it back a little bit and make sur it is not clicked in the start position.. By the way, do you windows work, and is you overdrive stuck tured off??
