Vibration while braking
Hi!
I have a 1995 960 that is giving me a little trouble. When I brake, the front end vibrates but only at around 25 mph. If I brake from say 50 mph, no vibration until 25 mph and then from around 20 mph to 0 mph no vibration. Now on the other hand, if I stop without using my front brakes, ie I use my hand brake, there is no vibration at all. I suspect warped rotors but I don't understand why there is no vibration at higher speeds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jomo |
Are there any vibrations without braking?

There is no vibration when I am not braking.

That is due to vibration resonance, which in your case means vibration is maximized at certain rotational speed. It's very common in cars. Have you noticed that some bulgy tires bounce the vehicle around at slow speed, yet smooth out as speed increases?
Back to your case -- In addition to front rotors, a sticky caliper(s) might be contributing as well. |
