97 850 T5 A\C dose not work
Seems like there might be a problem with the electronic climate control unit. I had a similar problem with my 93 850. I had it checked out, and was told that one of the sensors of the electronic climate control unit had failed. Obviously, i had to replace it, but at a $274 cost (Ouch!). BY the way, the repeated blinking of the "REC" and "AC" lights lets you know that there is a problem. In some cases, if I tried to turn on the heat or ac while they were blinking, the fans would not even work! It seems like it might be a malfunctioning sensor. Good Luck.

does the A/C compressor cycle on or off frequently while idling? if so, then all it is low freon. easy to check and easy to replace. worry about the leak later, at least you know now it is just low in freon.

if there is freon then i would check (with a voltmeter) to see if current is being sent to control switch when you turn on the A/C.

do the easiest and most likely thing first and check the freon level. this is done by getting an A/C guage at your local PepBoys. $10

let me know how it works.
