Default 10valve ’94 850 Lifter Question

Alright, I have a tolerances question. I’m in the middle of a cam follower replacement job, and after the dog and pony show of ordering to 20 valve kit (9207830), whilst my engine has 10 valves (B5252S), hunting down the correct Volvo part number (9180681), and ordering the correct parts and cam seals, the lifters don’t fit right. They seem to be riding high on the valve stems. Once measured they are indeed 2mm taller on the inside then those they are replacing. Is this due to the age of the old lifters I’m removing? Have they somehow collapsed and the clearance on my new parts is correct? Or are the new tappets going to push the valves down too far causing them to be permanently open during engine firing? Any help would be appreciated.

The measurements are from the valve stem seat on the inside of the lifter to the lower edge.

Cheers

I have the same 10 valve engine in a 1996 850, and I'm getting ready to do a valve seal job. I was also thinkining of replacing any faulty (or possibly all) lifters. How did it turn out for you? Did the new lifters work?

Thanks.
