1995 wagon help!

Hey yall! New member here. After years of having my 1990 Saab 900 darling, I convinced my husband that a 1995 850 wagon would be an awesome addition.
She's been great so far. However, we did have to replace the alternator and battery last week. It happened 3.5 hours from our new home, luckily in our hometown. Our trusted import shop did the job.
Back story: my husband had said for the first few weeks he had the Volvo (I was in our hometown finishing up my degree before moving) that the AC would not turn off.
Upon picking up the car, I noticed the headlights had blown by the alternator. No big deal, replaced them and made the 3.5 hour trek to our new place. No issues whatsoever, super smooth drive, and I was able to get the vents to stop blowing.
Since I've brought the car back to Richmond, where it is much warmer than home, the vents are back on full blast. After tinkering with all the gauges, even the 0 setting does nothing.
Is it possible the alternator blowing created a short of some kind in the AC system? Other than this, the car isn't having any issues at the moment.
I've never encountered a problem like this.

Thanks for any input!

Cars with automatic a/c have a standalone fan speed controller. That has evidently gone bad on your car. For a Volvo that part is amazingly cheap.

Here's a good video on that:
