Check out IPD (the volvo performance parts supplier) on the web. They have kits ranging from stage 1 to stage 3 for various amounts of horsepower increases.

Remove turbo heat shield un hook waste gate clip turn in rod 3-4 turns hook it back to wastegate replace shield and enjoy. Why youf at it remove stock air box and add a clamp on filter to maf and now you can actually hear the woosh when you decell. That's what I have done on my 96 t5 wagon and it eats unsuspecting rice runners for lunch. Baby seats and all. LOL

For exhaust, bring it to a shop. The stock piping is 2.25" so anything larger than that will be fine.

I would NOT turn the wastegate as that can become very dangerous.

For the cone filter, the cone filter only makes it so your car may sound louder/the compressor bypass valve will go off louder. The stock airbox is said to be very very very efficient so simply a K&N filter would be fine if you wanted to do something to your airbox.

Ok, forget all the whack tuning things you know about for Hondas and focus on the fact this is a Volvo. I had to as well when I bought mine. I would definitely talk to the guys at IPD. Also, you can turn wastegate rods etc. But tuning the right way is going to be positive for you in the long run. Install an ECU from IPD, have an exhaust shop do your piping. A muffler doesn't do much but make it louder. You need larger diameter tubing, and a bigger downpipe. Look intoa manual boost controller, but also be careful with that. I used a Dawes Racing controller. I was told by IPD that the best intake for this car is a K&N drop in filter. The factory setup is better than aftermarket intakes. If you just stab a cone filter, the temperature of the air your are bringing into the intake is hotter than with the factory setup. Not what you want from intakes as I am sure you are aware. IPD is going to be your best bet for accessories and parts. And last but not least, do your research. Volvospeed, these forums as well have a ton of information you can use. Don't forget, it is not a riceburner. Just my .02.

K & N in the stock box is the ONLY way to go unless you want to spend BIG $$$ on a cold air kit with a heat sheild even then you are really just getting more noise.

Look around your area and find a "cruise night" where all the old timer "hot rodders" go. They will be able to tell you where to find a good exhaust fabricator. 3" for a down pipe and minimum of a 2 1/2" from there back. BTW there is a good place to buy exhaust parts on Ebay store name "GREYHOUNDPERFORMANCE" They sell Magnaflow @ good $$$

Do not mess with the waste gate and before checking out EVERYTHING in the system (hoses, PCV, etc) don't mess with the boost. It is a sure way to find out which turbo hoses are shot or even better blow the top or bottom off the intercooler.

DO STAGE ZERO FIRST!!!

I myself have a reservation about the WG rod. YOU WANT THE WG TO STAY CLOSED LONGER TO HOLD BOOST PRESSURE. Turning the rod in will in fact make it open up sooner and bleed off pressure before it is time time.
