850 turbo transmission leak
My transmission leaks after I drive the car and only leaks for a couple of minutes, then stops. It seems to be coming from the area where the transmission case splits on the bottom. Can the gasket be replaced there or is it possible that there is excess pressure in the transmission or something due to it only leaking only a couple minutes after driving it? The fluid is at the proper level. It leaks the equivalent of approximately 5ml or about 3 tablespoons worth. Is this a bad sign?

getting pictures of where its leaking from would be a plus.it might be seals getting bad and needs replacing.mine did same.my seals broke and all the fluid came out.had to let my mechanic replace all three seals.get pictures of where its leaking from and others will find it a little easy to help you out. does your transmission slip, does it shift properly?

You might want to clean it up and check it out. I doubt it's only leaking when you stop driving but it's possible you do have a leak at the bottom. I would guess it's leaking all the time it's just leaking down when you stop.
Pictures would be a big help. |

It shifts fine and has no other problems aside from the harsh clunk going into reverse.

Haven't heard of many transmission leaks. A lot of steering rack leaks. Check your steering res and see if it's low. If it's the transmission, it's possible that fluid could be coming out of the axle shaft seal(s). Other than that, there is a seal behind the torque converter and a seal at the dip stick tube.
