Alright well I just bought this car 3 months ago and it started making this faint noise when I would accelerate and turn on the car, and the noise was kinda like when you'd ride a bike with the sports card hitting the spokes, but just a little more quiet, then I was on my way home and the noise stopped, then about a mile later it started up again, and by the time I was about a block away from my house it was making a terrible rattling noise so I pulled over and towed it. It sounds like something is floating around in the engine, so I took a stethoscope to it and can't identify it cause the sound is strong all throughout the front end so I replaced the motor mount, took the valve cover off and took the cams out, replaced some tappets that were bad, put it back together and the sound is still there. I don't think it could be tranny problems, its an automatic and doesn't slip or anything. Anybody have this problem or have any idea of what it could possibly be?

 

does it feel like it has lost power? check your compression? possibly a valve. Has your oil pressure light come on at all?

 

the check engine light is not on, and we check the compression already and it was normal

 

to me it kinda sounds like its loosing oil pressure causing the valves to make noise. thats why i was asking about the low oil pressure light not the check engine light. Check your egr as well. does the noise go up with engine speed?
