95' 850 GLT Key Fob Programing

I picked up a 1995 850 glt a few weeks back and its running well, did 1400 miles on it just last week. However it was missing a key fob for locking the doors. So I talked to a more versed local who has had Volvos for years, he got his mechanic to give him a spare fob he had that "should work" it's black with horizontal button layout. So I checked the box behind the glove box and it is a CWTFWB1G and the used fob is a CWT5859Y?(it is very worn but I think that's right. I plan on picking up a new battery today if I get a chance. So first questions first is will this combo work? I tried getting the car ready to pair to remote and I cannot get the dash light to start blinking after the 5 key off\on cycle. I do know of one fault in the central lock system; the fuel door lock had been disconnected. It appears this was done as it doesn't unlock with the car when I hooked it back up for testing. I did reconnect the fuel door lock and try a few more tests that were still unsuccessful. Any tips?

One FOB does not work on another vehicle.

Tony, I've read in several posts on this forum and other sites that you can in fact use a fob from another vehicle. Just has to be from another 850 and match the FCC id. I was on looking to confirm if that id needed to match 100% vs partial. I know with some radio ids the first few digits are a manufacture and the last part is unique. I was checking to see if anyone saw any issue with the combination of ids I posted. The second part of my question had to do with the car not entering its "pairing" mode to allow for a replacement fob to be connected.
