97 850 GLT ECC HVAC Issue
 

Hi All,

I have a '97 850 GLT with the electronic climate control.

Last year my blower motor & blower motor resistor gave up the ghost so I replaced both of them with OEM parts from FCP. Worked like a charm and the ECC would still occasionally blink upon startup but I didn't think much of it.

Cut to 2 weeks ago and I came back from a week long business trip to find that I had no heat, no AC and most inconvenient of all, no defroster. I can tell you that this is not a fun position to be in in Pittsburgh in the winter.

On the advice of a local garage, I purchased a used but working ECC unit and switched it out earlier today, but no luck. I'm still getting 20 or so blinks upon engine start up, no air, no heat & when I try to adjust the fan speed I only hear a slight click as if the blower motor or something is trying to engage. Fuses are all in good shape.

I'd like to avoid taking it in to the Volvo dealer if at all possible as I'll be moving out of the country in less than 2 months and just need to get through that time, so any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

what happens if you put the blower on 4 (aka top speed)? that setting should bypass the motor resistor.
