honestly the first time i went to go look at it i had NO IDEA it had a turbo.. so i didnt check for any of it...
after i read that^^ on wikipedia i though maybe it did...
and yes the guy knows NOTHING AT ALL about the car, and it MAY BE poorly labeled.
does the VIN tell you anything? do all turbo models have the "turbo" written on the right?

well, the guys being a jerk right now, he had it up for 2500$ so i was going to offer him 2200$ cause im a student and really cant afford his new price of 2900$ after the repairs he did...
im going to let him cook a little then give him my final offer. if this happens ill get pictures of the engine bay to confirm..
the problem is that there are alot of of turbo volvos around for sale, in my price range, but i have my heart set on a manual...

Well, you say that there is the shadow of a GLT badge. And if it doesn't have a turbo, that means someone stuck on a GLT badge just for fun, to me it kinda sounds like nobody knows the history of the car, which would kind of freak me out I was buying it to be my DD. And you said that this guy has no clue about it. Just sayin. In the US here, it is damn near impossible to find an 850 with a turbo and manual tranny, and if you do find one, it was imported into the US by a private party. One option, buy an auto turbo for less than 2200 and wait a little while and do a manual swap.

It wouldn't be easier because the NA's literally have nothing that you need to add a turbo. I mean you will need a turbo motor, a turbo, the oil/collant lines/return lines to and from the turbo. You'll need a turbo engine harness, an ecu, the intake pipe, the vac lines, the tcv, the intercooler, all the intake hoses, all the coolant hoses. You basically have to buy a turbo car to make an NA a turbo car.

actually i wasent talking about switching a motor... but while were on the topic if you could pick up a new good volvo with a manual tranny, and a cheap turbo body you could just swap all the parts straight off the turbo body... and if your that serious you want it to be done right, and might as well rebuild the engine anyway..
i was talking about AWD volvos, what parts on them go often..

Yeah your talking about turboing a N/A? Not worth it. it will cost too much to do it right and then you could have bought a turbo model and just modded it from there and be good to go.
FYI buy an automatic and just do a tranny swap. That is a lot easier then doing a N/A to turbo and or engine swapping.

First, there's no point in doing that, you would be spending too much money IMO. If you want a turbo that bad, but cannot find a manual turbo, just buy a turbo car, save yourself the hassle, and later down the road do a manual swap.
The transmission/drive shaft, I don't know the specific parts, but I have heard horror stories. Actually, when my family bought our first AWD V70XC the AWD system went out on it as they were driving it around for us to pick up.

A turbo car would be completely fine. I live in Wisconsin, we don't see -25 but we do get below zero, and the last few winters the car is parked outside. It being turbo or not has nothing to do with how it well it drives in winter.
And 850 turbos don't have most power at lower speeds, they have turbo lag, my boost doesn't really kick in until about 25 mph.
