ABS light on

The ABS light is on (still). The car is a non-tracs vehicle (six plunger ABS module)and when I first got it the ABS light would come on and then turn off. Now it just stays on constantly after I re-soldered the ABS module connectors. One of my friends had an extra ABS module with Tracs(seven plunger ABS/TRACS module) so I swapped out mine but the ABS light is still on. I actually have the entire ABS unit with the pump so I was wondering if I can swap out the entire ABS unit (my non-tracs with a tracs unit)? Will it work and will it have traction control?

Did you have the codes pulled?

Will a TRACS ABS unit work properly in a Non-TRACS vehicle?? As Tech said, have you pulled codes?

I had the OBD-II scanner hooked up before I swapped the ABS module and I did not get any codes. Do I need to do something different to read the ABS codes? I have an extra ABS pump that came with the ABS/TRACS module. I guess it could be a wheel sensor but I noticed that before I touched any of the components the ABS light would come on and then go off (as mentioned earlier) now it just stays on solid.

Well it appears the TRACS control unit did not work. The ABS light goes on and off and now the odometer has stopped working. I switched back to the original ABS control unit and will check to see if anything changes tomorrow. If all fails I'm sending it off to one of the exchange places that I found on eBay. I still don't know how to pull the codes off of the ABS unit.

Assuming that this site will let me post - you can fix it yourself if you know how to solder. Here is a writeup that I did:
