ABS module- Repair or Replace?
I have a suspected bad ABS module and want to know if there is any direct way to test the module to ensure its bad. The replacement is over $300. I found a place that claims they rebuild the module for $99.00 and give a 5yr waranty, does anybody know if this is a real repair? This is the website that claims they fix them www.autoecu.com.

RE: ABS module- Repair or Replace?
Greetings from Chicagoland.
You wouldn't want to spend $300 for an ABS module, it's overpriced as you say. In my opinion, 850's ABS module was a defective unit and should have been a factory recall item, because so many people are having the same problem.
I don't know if there is a direct way to test it. Since the problem is common, it could have been a poor soldering, faulty connections, defective solid-state devices (IC, LSI, diode, transistor, etc...) or simply a poor circuit board design. Unless you are an electronic wiz or know someone in the electronic engineering department, you might end up damaging it further with static electricity.
Judging from advice by experts on this board, rebuilt unit seems like the best option, and it seems to run about $100 or so. That's what I would do.
Good luck,
JPN

RE: ABS module- Repair or Replace?
The ABS light just comes on sometimes then the tracs off light. Then it will go away. Sometimes it will last for a couple of days sometimes only until next startup. From what i have read and seen on the forum the module is prone to shorting out. I am sending mine in for repair (dont want to spend $300 for a new one)
