two weeks ago i was driving down the road and the person infront of me hit their breaks and i went to hit mine and my ABS quit working and i rear ended her. sense then i have fixed all the danage and i put a new abs controll unit in today and that still didnt make the lights on the dash go off. any ideas on what it could be?

You might need to have the lights cleared.
You need to atleast have them pulled to see what they are.

Tompoirier6 Apr 4, 2009 11:21 AM

have them pulled? you mean have someone look up the codes?

tech Apr 4, 2009 11:38 AM

Yes the light is on meaning there is codes stored in the computer.
The codes need to be pulled from the computer.

Tompoirier6 Apr 4, 2009 11:51 AM

alright i will have someone do that for me. thank you

Were the lights on before you hit the car? I think usually its just a wheel speed sensor that goes bad and that will shut down the whole abs/traction system.

no it wasnt. it wasnt on right after the crash. i had to have it towed home and like 3 or 4 hours after it happend i started the car to move it at my house and the light came on.

Then do what Tech said, see what codes are stored and have them cleared. Let us know what the codes are if the light comes back on.

alright i will do that. i just have to find someone that can pull the codes sense i cant drive it anywhere right now

dan2286 Apr 5, 2009 01:40 PM

Would he be able to check the codes himself depending on the year of the car?

tech Apr 5, 2009 02:49 PM

If it was a 94 or 95 yes he could.

Tompoirier6 Apr 5, 2009 10:19 PM

its a 95. how do i track them?

tech Apr 5, 2009 10:50 PM

That's how you pull them.

Just read all codes and write them somewhere and then clear the codes and see if the light goes off.

Tompoirier6 Apr 6, 2009 03:31 PM

i just pulled all the codes and on A3 i got 2-1-3, 1-4-2, 2-1-4, 4-2-4 and then on B2 i got 1-2-2.

bestharry Apr 8, 2009 09:45 AM

122 on B2 is normal....so just neglect that.

142- Fualty Brake light switch

213 & 214 - Rear left and right wheelsensor signal absent when moving.

424 - Tracs fressure switch faulty.

Did you try to clear the codes? My feeling is that al these errors got triggered when the vehicle was towed probably with ignition 'ON'.
i would just clear the codes and see if they reappear.
