acc belt pulley or alternator??? help?
 

my 96 850 turbo started making a kinda whining noise when i start it and its cold. it goes away when it warms up. my radio has been cutting out for a few seconds at a time too. the two pulleys are so close together that i cant tell which it is. im thinking it might be the alternator since my lights are dimming and my radio is cutting out. anyone care to shine some light on my situation? this morning i caught a ride to work because when i was trying to find the noise i reved it a little and the car died. what you think?

anyone? i dont want to spend a few hundred on an alternator and have it be the tensioner pulley for the accessory belt.

What I would do is take the belt out hand test eack one of these pulleys. Also, it could be your alt is on the way out or the tensioner itself is weak, once again hand test will tell.

my 91 940 turbo is doing same thing i replaced battery and alt and still is doing it the lights will start to dim then radio goes off all idiot lights come on and power steering gets hard to turn any ideas to
